connections

The play, A Raisin in the Sun, has no connecting towards me what so ever. but it has major connections with my Dad. he grew up in Sparta Illinois with eight other siblings. my dad being the youngest male. My grandfather worked two jobs and only brought home enough money to put food on the table and pay bills. he ran a farm on the side to there would be extra food. According to my Dad, they had it better than most black families in the area. My grandma would always give my dad some money when he went out with his friends, a 10 year old with 10 dollars back in '66 was real good money to his peers and to him. Grandpa never knew she did such a thing though. my dad also lost a lot of money a few years later when he was eighteen to gambling, 1500 dollars was lost playing poker. Hi Andres. I'm sure my grandfather remembers some of those things as well. i couldn't imagine getting just an orange for Christmas.

  1. Losing 1500 dollars when your dad was 18 must have been hard. I also think that your family did have a connection to the play.
